Tablet This tablet in the ringing chamber records the last major structural work in 1864. This included the addition of the spire funded by Lord Dartmouth. It has been suggested that the additional weight of the spire contributed to the recent problems in the tower.
The addition of the spire coincided with the addition of the two new trebles. James Harper, then Parish Clerk and bellringer, was instrumental in raising the money for this. His grave - note the headstone - can be seen near the Lychgate. Headstone
